Crane Song RA mimics amplifier overload, giving control over even harmonics, compression of low-level audio, and peak level, in a nonlinear curve function β a technical way of saying it gives you precision control over your ability to add harmonics, and other distortion artifacts to your audio mixes. RA is a native AAX plug-in for Avid Pro Tools which features 4 groups of controls: Low Level; peak; even harmonic, and a combo control of drive and output level trim.
The Low Level Control of this harmonic AAX plug-in raises the low level signals with little impact on higher level audio. This allows you to raise lower level sections of your audio tracks and introduce an overdriven amp effect without blowing out higher level audio. This is something that conventional vintage amplifiers were not able to do.
The Peak Control section of this audio plug-in allows low-level signals to pass and acts like a soft clipper with control over exactly when and how the tones saturate. This control sets the limit for where peaks are rounded off and a hardness value that can be changed.
The Even Harmonics controls are the most difficult to hear and describe, mostly because the second harmonic is an octave. Even though itβs hard to distinguish, it does alter the feel of things because its effect adds more girth, and while itβs something you hear itβs often described as something you feel. The top and bottom controls round off those corresponding portions of the wave form, and when used in conjunction with each other, it can have a canceling effect. Using this with Low Level Control is often a magical pairing for acoustic guitars, bass, or kick drums.
